exercise no. 2
Due March 13th at the beginning of class.
For this exercise perform/employ the following:
- Solid Layers:
- Use a comp-sized solid layer as a solid background color
- Use a solid layer (of any size) along with the mask tools to create an arbitrary shape (e.g. like the turtle from the lecture)
- Use a comp-sized solid layer as a base for some effect that more-or-less replaces the contents of the solid. Some options are:
- Under the Generate effect group: 4-Color Gradient, Advanced Lightning, Beam, Gradient Ramp, Grid, Radio Waves
- Under the Simulation effect group: CC Bubbles, CC Mr. Mercury, CC Star Burst, Foam
- Adjustment Layer
Use an adjustment layer to alter the appearance of multiple layers in your comp at once. For example, you might use some effect(s) from the Blur & Sharpen, Color Correction, Distort, or Stylize effect groups. - Parenting
Employ layer parenting to make one or more layers (the child layers) “follow” the transform animation of a parent layer. The parent and child layers should be keyframed in such a way as to necessitate the parenting: do something that would be too hard to do without parenting. For example, consider the solar system example from the lecture. Or a bird with flapping wings (the wings being parented to the bird’s body.) Or a moving car with rotating wheels (the wheels being parented to the car body.)
Other misc requirements:
- Duration: at least 15 seconds
- Resolution: 1280×720
- Compress with Handbrake, Media Encoder, or After Effects (Please see the instructions on using HandBrake to make sure the Quicktime you submit is compressed and not too big, file size -wise.)
