{"id":1818,"date":"2017-02-14T18:58:35","date_gmt":"2017-02-14T18:58:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bobbyciraldo.com\/uwm-vfx\/?page_id=1818"},"modified":"2018-03-06T22:17:25","modified_gmt":"2018-03-06T22:17:25","slug":"exercise-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ciraldo.stream\/uwm-vfx1\/exercises\/exercise-2\/","title":{"rendered":"exercise no. 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>exercise no. 2<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Due <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">March 13th<\/span> at the beginning of class.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For this exercise perform\/employ the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Solid Layers:<\/strong><\/span>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">\n<li>Use a comp-sized solid layer as a <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>solid background color<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Use a solid layer (of any size) along with the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>mask tools<\/strong><\/span> to create an <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>arbitrary shape<\/strong><\/span> (e.g. like the turtle from the lecture)<\/li>\n<li>Use a comp-sized solid layer as a <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>base for some effect<\/strong><\/span> that more-or-less replaces the contents of the solid. Some options are:\n<ul>\n<li>Under the <strong>Generate<\/strong> effect group: <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>4-Color Gradient, Advanced Lightning,\u00a0 Beam, Gradient Ramp, Grid,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Radio Waves<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Under the\u00a0<strong>Simulation<\/strong> effect group:\u00a0<span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>CC Bubbles, CC Mr. Mercury, CC Star Burst, Foam<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Adjustment Layer<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nUse an adjustment layer to alter the appearance of multiple layers in your comp at once. For example, you might use some effect(s) from the\u00a0<strong>Blur &amp; Sharpen,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Color Correction, Distort,<\/strong>\u00a0or <strong>Stylize\u00a0<\/strong>effect groups.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Parenting<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nEmploy <strong>layer parenting<\/strong> to make one or more layers (the child layers) &#8220;follow&#8221; the transform animation of a parent layer. The parent and child layers should be keyframed in such a way as to necessitate the parenting:\u00a0<span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>do something that would be too hard to do <em>without<\/em> parenting.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0For example, consider the solar system example from the lecture. Or a bird with flapping wings (the wings being parented to the bird&#8217;s body.)
